Yellow split pigeon peas is known as arhar dal in Northern India and toor dal in Southern part of India. This one is yellow, split one and is without skin, that’s why called as yellow split peas.


It is used to make all kind of savory preparation in India, like the famous sambhar and rasam from Southern India. In Northern India, it is used to prepare simple stews that are then tempered with spices. Also, it has been used in Awadhi style cuisine to make recipes like Smoked Sultani Dal.
